The University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) is looking for two (2) Field Supervisors and eight (8) Field Interviewers for a spatial demography project in Laguna, Rizal, and Cavite from November 2013 to January 2014.

Below are the qualifications we’re looking for:

FIELD SUPERVISOR (2)
Responsibilities:
• To establish cordial ties with the local government units and barangay units that are selected for the study;
• To supervise and guide field interviewers on the field and to check the quality of the data being collected;
• To report regularly to the research associates and the principal investigator of the project through written reports and meetings;
• To compile ethnographic data from field interviewers;
• To conduct focus group discussions and to collect data from participants and autophotographers;
• To ensure that all collected data are stored and encoded into the geospatial database;
• To monitor budget use and maintain a revolving fund for fieldwork; and
• To perform other tasks deemed necessary for the project.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of any Bachelor’s degree (preferably, but not limited to, the Social Sciences)
• Strong analytical and writing skills
• Good command of English and Tagalog, both oral and written
• Familiar with Excel, Word, and other computer applications
• Experience in coordination and research work is an advantage
• Knowledge about GIS is a plus.
• Willing to stay and travel in Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna for three months (November to mid-December)

FIELD INTERVIEWERS (8)
Responsibilities:
• To coordinate with the field supervisors on the field;
• To collect survey data from households through a systematic sampling method;
• To write a report of their observations and interactions in the community, and to submit it to the field supervisor;
• To assist the field supervisor in locating geographic coordinates of certain locations through various mediums;
• To perform other tasks deemed necessary for the project.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of any Bachelor’s degree; fresh graduates are welcome to apply
• Good command of Tagalog, both oral and written
• Experience in surveys and research is an advantage
• Willing to stay and travel in Rizal, Cavite, and Laguna for three months (November to mid-December)
